OK i just reinstalled windows xp, everything was going good until, i realize that everything is bigger like the resolution is set to smaller than it really is, so i check it is set to like 650x800 but my screen it like 1026x760, i tryed to change it and i cant, i wont let me!I also have another problem witch could be linked to the first!, the problem is that it did not ask me for the windows xp activation key in the setup and im getting worried that this is only a trial xp version, why didn't it ask me in the set-up?how can i activate it!!

Chris thanks in advance and thanks to the other people that helped me on my other post!

First, you can post the make and model of your PC. If it's not a pre-built like Dell or HP or whatever, then you need to post the make and model of the motherboard. We can then provide some links to the drivers you need. If you're using the PC that you're posting about to go online and such, then your internet problems aren't really problems, but I'm assuming that you're using a different PC. If you don't see a little set of keys down by the clock, then you probably don't need to activate. This could be because you installed using an OEM copy of Windows designed for your PC. If you do have the little set of keys, click it to start the activation process.

if it is a usb modem you need to have drivers for them.you should have a cd to go with it from your internet provider..

My guess is that the modem connects via ethernet, and the ethernet port is integrated into the motherboard (common), thus motherboard drivers will be needed.

None of these questions have been answered. In order to provide any type of help here, at some of this info must be supplied by the OP, IMO at least.

OK im back, here we go, the modem connects to my computer threw an Ethernet cable, i have tryed to install the modem software on my computer(with modem cd)but it tells me that i do not have a Ethernet port(which i really do have),I'm using the same pc that im having problems with to write this, see what i did was put my modem on and instead of connected it to my Ethernet port(which does not work) i just got a wireless-g usb adapter and told it to connect to my modem!lol its kinda funny how im just getting device to connect me to the internet instead of connecting my modem to the computer directly!
I do have another pc but it's to slow(not enough ram)so i just am using the one i am working on!I don't have a little set of keys in the lower right hand corner, i know what they are i have seen them before on other computer i have worked on, and since they are not there then i guess i don't need to activate it, lol.

It is a pre-built dell computer, most of the things are directly connected to the motherboard, to save some money for dell, which gets me mad because what if i want to update say the graphics card!!!:mad but im am not 100% sure the Ethernet is directly connected! But it does look like it because it is kinda high put on the back of the tower!

Heres some info on it-its a windows xp home edition-version 2002-sp3-And this is kinda funny but the Ethernet controller is under other devices instead of under network adapters in the device manager! Is they anything else you guys need to know?

OK thanks for the help, i hope you guys haven't gave up on me for not answering but i had to go on short notice last night!

Dell support is interactive, and fairly intuitive . You should be good. It may take a while.

No i did not i just put in the model(2400 series) and they gave me a list of things that i could download!i got a few of them that made sense, and guess what i got the modem to work and im now directly connected to my modem, also my bios version is a03 and they had a05 should i update it, i downloaded it and put on a floppy disk , but should i update it, is it dangerous?i'll look threw the list again and get a few more important things!
