i have firefox and love using it but i have a few questions

i have been looking up ways to speed it up and i keep finding set "network.http.pipelining" to true i also notice theres a "network.http.pipelining.ssl" file set to false does anyone know what changing it and others like it to true and would it be benificial?

also does anyone know how to get more speed out of my firefox other then the ones i keep finding that all say the same thing like from this site http://howto.helpero.com/howto/Speed-Up-Firefox_31.html

there are alot of other factors to consider when it comes to making web pages load faster. 1 is your internet connection, 2 is the hardware you have (low RAM, slower processors, and low end video cards). 3, other software running which would take ram from firefox.

    try game booster from iobit

it's supposed to speed up games, but also can be used for firefox.

Firefox is currently not optimized for windows, I would suggest giving opera 9.64 a try, im currently running that browser and I have no problems with it at the moment. Webpages are loading quite fast and the browser dosnt take much memory as firefox does.

Firefox has been dubbed 'memory hog' at the moment. :-D

but the choice is up to you

What sites are slow with Firefox running? Is it all sites, including loading up majorgeeks? Also, IMHO, using speedup programs really do not help in the slightest. Btw, how many add-ons do you have installed on Firefox?

I have Firefox 3 with opera 9.64 and IE8, Firefox 3 has got 15 extensions installed on it and opera 9.64 has nothing. Firefox is running ok but opera 9.64 is running faster I even tried uninstalling all the extensions and the opera browser still running faster than firefox.

but like I said the choice is up to you, depends on what you want the browser to do, the tweaks stated in earlier posts do work but its only a temporary fix and dont last long.

Firefox at the moment are concerntrating on releasing their new browser which supposed to be the fastest browser in the market. Firefox are calling this mozilla minefield. Bu there dont know when the final release is going to be but youcan download the beta for it and see for yourselve how good it is.

I did give it a try but most of the websites dont work on it at the moment as its still only in testing.

Been using Minefield for near 2yrs as its the testbed for Fx, and currently using Minefield 3.6a1pre NightlyBuilds (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090429 Minefield/3.6a1pre (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)) and works fine in all the websites I currently view, which is a fair amount, and not found one it wont load ok, however I will agree that being an alpha build it is prone to bugs and while working great for me, may not for others (doesnt like many fx Addons either).

Opera 10 again a beta is fairly quick and adds some boosting capabilities to browsing.

Do think like DomLuc that the issue is likely not the browser but the internet connection or maybe a security app on reddeaths PC, so to reddeath I would suggest

What is your actual DL and UL figures, and http://www.speedtest.net/ will ge a fair aroundabout result.

What security applications do you have installed?

What network setup do you have Cable/DSL and if DSL is the phone line plug rigth by modem router, or are you using a long phone cable extention?

the rendering main problem is the fact that my video card is out dated its a NVIDA TNT 64 edition

that would be the first thing that could slow down some pages, especially ones with alot of flash or java content.
