Just installed new extenal hard drive and all is well, but would like to ask a few questions. I used Explorer to drag and drop a program into my new drive and then checked to see if it worked and it did, so I then uninstalled it form my internal drive. When I tried to run it again on new drive, it didn't work. Can someone tell me why? Also, is it OK to stack external drive atop my computer?
I don't have a cut off switch on my external drive. Should I unplug it from the USB Port or the power plug or should I just let it stay on? It stays on after I turn off my computer and stays warm. Hope these questions don't sound too stupid but I'm just learning and there wasn't much documentation with the drive. Thanks for any help you can give me.

this program you dragged and dropped was it an already installed program on your internal drive? if so when you uninstalled it from internal drive... most likely all the registry links would have been removed also.

you need to re-install the program again and if it lets you do a custom install and allow you to pick an install location then pick your external drive.

so stack ontop of case .... dont see why not but one thing to remember heat rises and at the top of your PC is the PSU so this will add to the drives own heat output!!

as to the unplug of the drive.. what drive do you have? as the manual or company FAQ should have disconnect instructions.

this is from Seagate on their external drives http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/faq/external_drive_removal.html
