a game messed up the comp

HI

last night i installed assassins creed and during the insallation it told me my processor wasn't fast enough to run it. I have an AMD 64 3200. Of course I tried it out anyway

The game worked ok, it was noticable that a faster computer would run it better. SO I went to shut it down and the computer froze. THis morning when i turned on my computer it froze 5 seconds after windows started. Same thing happened in safe mode.

Did i do some major damage running the game?

There is a standardized way to reset your graphics card at boot up thats used by overclockers for when things go wrong, it might do you some good if you try it. Its possible the game fooled with your graphics settings to run and when it froze coming out of the game it was trying to set it back and failed.
Hold the CTRL key during boot up and that will often reset your graphics to defaults.

 

I tried holding control and the computer rebooted automatically after windows started. I tried it again upon restart and it froze up about 20 seconds after windows started.

 

I've been seraching and it definetly seems like it is the vid card. I jsut started the computer again and once windows started the screen went blank.

I have an ASUS extreme 6600. Is it possible to reset the card before starting up windows? Holding control, which was suggested before, did not work.

 

i solved it, i finally opened the box up and the nforce fan was jsut hanging there. I guess it was just coincidence with the game. thanks for the help
