A Good Pop-Up Blocker

    Hello.
I am interested in a very low-profile pop-up blocker, and I hope some of the Major Geeks can point me in the right direction.

First, my brief story. When I first installed my McAfee Anti-Virus Internet Suite software, I was provided the option to block both ads and pop-ups, and I checked both co-ordinating boxes in Privacy Service. This was very effective in blocking just about every pop-up ad and sounding a tone when it did so. However, immediately after the Privacy Service software automatically updated itself, it has been much less effective in blocking just about anything. I know this sounds like spyware or adware, but I run frequent scans and delete all questionable items. This problem continues even immediately after the scan.

I would like to install a low-profile but effective pop-up blocker. When I say low-profile, I mean that I really don't like the idea of an additional toolbar, such as the Google toolbar, because it reduces the viewable space in the browser window. I am looking for a pop-up blocker that remains hidden, but actively blocks these annoying menaces to computer society.

I would really appreciate any suggestions you have.

    Hello Star17,
Thank you for the recommendation. I installed it and it is enabled. Unfortunately, I am still having the problem. I have not yet adjusted the sensitivity settings. If you think that I should, I will make that adjustment. There is one thing I forgot to mention in my original message. I am also interested in the pop-up blocker preventing the extra windows from opening in the first place. This has been more of a problem than windows automatically opening and displaying the advertisement. In other words, I want the entire pop-up action blocked which includes the window appearing in the taskbar. Thank you again.

I just adjusted some of the PopOops settings and now it works fine. I really appreciate the recommendation! Thank you again.

Looks good, wonder how good it is.
Star, do you use this yourself?

Nope, don't need to. Since I use Firefox and before that Maxthon, it's probably been at least 4 years since I've seen a pop-up.

If the program was junk, MG wouldn't list it. :)
