If you have any interest in birds, http://www.allaboutbirds.org/Page.aspx?pid=1189 is a great resource to learn more about birds. I do not, by any measure, consider myself an avid bird watcher but I have explored the subject a bit this summer. I've learned more about the Northern Cardinal which we have here in Ohio. This bird is not often seen and so I assumed they just are rather scarce, even though they are the "State Bird" for Ohio. After visiting this website and listening to the sounds made by Northern Cardinals, I realized I often hear the sounds made by them and that the Northern Cardinal has a greater presence than infrequent actual instances of being seen would lead naive bird watchers to believe. Let's just say these birds like to play hide-and-seek and they're good at it. Now I know more of them are in the area than I previously believed.

Similarly, I've discovered we actually have more American Goldfinch around than I had previously believed. Or, perhaps this is an unusual season. Anyway, I've seen more of them in the last month or so than I've seen over a period of years preceding this time.

By going to the http://www.allaboutbirds.org/Page.aspx?pid=1189 and doing a search on a bird name, you can find plenty of information on hundreds of species.
