A little confusion

At the risk of sounding like a newbie... The thing is that I needed to build a pc for someone, and he needed just like to use Word and stuff, so I got some old board with a 370 socket, so I needed allso a P3, and after installing the processor, allthough on itself its written that it is 733 mhz, on the first screen it says 366 mhz... so whats up with that? I somehow feel this is a very stupid and easy question, but I just want to be sure, thanks in advance.

 

My guess would be that the front side bus is running at 66 Mhz instead of 133 Mhz that the P3 will want. First check and make sure that the memory is PC133 memory and also check to make sure that the motherboard will support 133Mhz FSB. If the answer to both of those questions is yes, then you'll need to go into BIOS and set the FSB to 133Mhz.

 

That particular Bios doesnt have that option in it, and im not really excited about flashing it, but the question is, are you sure its getting only that amount or could it be just a calculation mistake, I dont really get it.

Well, I can see in fact the FSB is 66 and the multiplier 5.5, and I guess its gonna stay that way, because the motherboard is so rare theres not even an online MB manual.. only out is to flash, but I think im just gonna keep it this way ^^!

Hey, I just set the jumpers at the mobo up arbitreraly and from what I remembered and was able to set FSB at 133 mhz, so now it runs at its full glory potential ^^! Not that it makes a large diference for the use its gonna get, but still its nice to solve these little things out, thx for the help every1.
