A little help needed on SRAM

I have a flash device for my Nintendo DS that uses SD cards as a storage medium. I understand that SD cards wear out over time so I try to keep its use to a minimum. To compensate for this, the flash device itself has a small amount of SRAM that you can place data in for temporary storage which I use quite often.

When the DS needs to be turned off I then save the contents of the SRAM into the SD card. I do this to prolong the life of the SD card. So my question is, does SRAM have a limited number of write cycles like flash memory or will it continue working for a lifetime? I just need to know if I am doing this right.

    Thanks
    Sam

Yes. Everything has a lifetime. I am unsure as to the exact number of cycles, though.

Any idea of the make and model of the SRAM chip?

Can't find the make and model of the SRAM chip, I just thought that SRAM in general was like DRAM where it can last a lifetime of reads and writes without wear problems. Or are there different categories of SRAM with different characterisics?

There's different categories of everything. SRAM is no different as far as I know.
