my friend has a dell box with Vista installed. I don't have the install or recovery disks...just the box itself. One his son's diddled with the computer and now there is a password on the login screen that I can't get past. There is the possibility that a virsu may have either re-written his pw or he may have not had a pw and one way or another (he's 84 and not comp savvy) managed to plug one inthere and now he can't get into his comp. Is there a way past teh login screen without the pw through f8 at boot up in Vista?

I think I got it. Forced a bad shutdown, and went into repair mode. Somehow it wiped whatever was causing the password screen to come up. apparently he never had a password for the windows login
