A mixed bag of questions from changing CLP to JPEG to taking Screen Shots

Coulld someone tell me how to change a CLP file to a JPEG file?

I'm having problems with my Acronis True Image 9.0 software program and the company's tech support sent me an application and asked me to download and unpack it (Device Tree Application for their software program).

They told me to "run the application" and completely unfold the "\Driver\Disk" and "\Driver\FtDisk" branches of the Application.

I was then to take a screen shot of the two unfolded branches and email the file to them.

Well, I've tried and tried to do what they said but I can't seem to get them what they need.

The file needs to be in a JPEG format (my Adobe Reader can't open CLP files) but since I work with the screen shot to the clipboard it comes out as CLP and I can't figure out how to change it to a JPEG file extension that they can open.

By the way, this CLP file is 6144kb in size....but it was transmitted via Yahoo email without problems. They got it but couldn't open it because it was a .CLP file.

    Try this:

When your screen is showing what you want to capture hit the Print Screen/SysRq button on your keyboard.

    Open Paint-->Edit-->Paste
Still in Paint click File-->Save As then browse to Desktop, choose a filename and in the drop down box choose Jpeg as filetype. File should be about 150kb. :)

Paint is found in Start-->All Programs-->Accessories

    Worked like a charm!!!

The total for both ended up being 395K when converted to JPEG....that's hard to believe.

Thanks again, now I'll see what the Acronis tech says about that! I have to give him credit, he's hanging in there with me.....and that takes some serious hanging.

Glad it helped. :) I've had good luck with Acronis software.

    Which version 9.0 or 10.0?

I have version 9.0 and have never gotten it to do anything for me. I can't even use it to back up My Documents to DVD-RW....it freezes everything up at about 17% complete.

Wish I knew the key to getting it to work. Someone told me to do my work with the disk Acronis said to make using their software.....does that make sense?

I've only used Disk Director Suite. I've looked at True Image 9 program just now and also read their forums. There seems to be problems with direct DVD-RW writing in some versions, make sure you have the lasted update. I don't have any blank (never formatted) DVD's to test so I can only go through the screens up to writing to disk.

One thing you could try is to see that the program itself is working by creating the backup .tib file on your harddrive. Instead of backing up to your DVD writer choose a location on your HD and see if the backup completes. If you can backup to your harddrive you could always copy the new .tib file to DVD by using your usual burning software and making a data DVD. Inconvenient but apparently until version 9.0(when internal DVD writing software was incorporated in Acronis) that was standard procedure.

You could test it by backing up a small folder.

sach, Acronis True Image 9.0 causes my computer to freeze up when attempting a backup to my hard drive as well. That's when I discovered that it freezes the computer. So, I thought I'd try to backup to DVD-RW and see what happened.....it freezes doing that as well.

I've even tried a new install (uninstall/reinstall) but that didn't help either.

Now I'm dependent on Acronis tech support to help me get it working....and that's not going so well. You can't talk to them, you must email back and forth with days in between each piece of email. It's a very slow process to say the least. At least they're still trying. That's about the only good thing I can say about my copy/install of Acronis True Image 9.0. So far it's been useless and a waste of money.

I was hoping someone here could help me figure out what's wrong. The response time here is far superior to that of Acronis.

I'll try a small folder backup and see what happens. I suppose it's possible that another program is conflicting with Acronis. One thing I have going for me is I'm a very patient person. I'll stay on it until I get it working or until I'm told it just won't work on my machine.

The bit about using their disk refers to creating a bootable CD from which to run the program without actually going into Windows. If you bought the program in a store the CD that you got is bootable. You can put it in your CD drive and restart your computer, when "press any key to boot from disk" comes up hit a key. You should be able to run the program from there.

If you've registered and updated the original program you should probably make a new boot(rescue) CD from the menu in TI9. Then try that one.
