Hi, i have decided to have a brand new system which will be built by my local computer shop. I have said i want to spend £600-£800 approx so want a fairly good machine with the main emphasis on clarity of screen and more importantly i need it to do as its supposed to do when i click on something, im sure you know what i mean, i hate waiting for pages to load or slow scrolling. I have a 1mb broadband connection and am stuck with that an cant make it any better.
This is what they have suggested to put in my new machine :

    Processor - AMD AM2
    Memory - DDR2
Hard Drive - Maxtor 250 Ghz
    Graphics Card - GeoForce 6200 PCI-X

I dont use my pc for gaming albeit occasionally i do test a game but its quite rare, i use it generally for browsing the net and doing my work on ebay, also i have a radio scanner program by butel that at present is working rather slow and hopefully that will run quicker in the future.
I do have a fairly heavy load of programs and i can forward all memory details etc if you want me if you tell me how to do it. I dont want to end up with something thats not quick enough or holds enough memory etc.
Look forward to your help and ideas, please be aware i am in the UK.

Can you find out which exact processor, and how much DDR2 memory they're installing?

Also, motherboard info could help too!

Have to agree will make the world of difference. If you have tons of apps running (heavy load) you will want at least 1Gb more realistically 2Gb nowadays. DDR2 is good cause it can process ~4 X data.

Oh dear, i thought this was THE place to get information, seems like it isnt! Whilst i appreciate its free and people get nothing more than a "thanks mate" out of it i really expected a few more members to know their stuff with pcs, clearly not. Thanks to those who did help though.

Look, not everyone specialises in this sort of thing, people have day jobs to get on with and not every query can be answered.

You still have not provided us any of the info to give you an opinion. All we know for sure is this... Also the info you asked for is am2 3500 with the option of a 3800 dual processor for £140 more and a 6200 video card.

How much ram? How much ram in the video card have? Does that include a monitor? What type of motherboard.

And you don't need to go SLI unless your a hard-core gamer (and then were not talking Geforce 6200 either). If this guy can't provide you with specifics... then shop some where else.

Tell ya what, it always gets a response, and do you know what, it always amazes when more people post to give some stick than to answer the question, pretty much show what fools some of you really are.

    I'll tell you what!!!!

You have to be patient!!!! You are not the only one on this board seeking advice/help!! The route that some of your comments are going...don't be surprised if you don't get any help from ANYONE!!!! Nobody around here likes selfishness!!

Now...if you would like to provide some more information, so someone can better assist you, then great...but there is NO need to be cocky!!!!

    Hi scully
The members here are extremely efficient in offering there help day in and day out. The question you asked was a specialised question which would have needed some revision and not some guess. In being rude to the members will not help at all and therefor i will be closing this thread
