a problem called nortons antivirus

hi its me again and im having trouble trying to remove norton anivirus on my dads computer

his free session has expired or something and its not protecting his computer so i downloaded avira antivir for him and then tried to get rid of nortons again

i go to add remove programs and tell it to remove nortons but it keeps saying theres an update or something and i cant remove nortons till i remove that

i tryied that removal thing but its not working so i was wondering if hijack this would remove it but i dont know how to use it how do i get it to remove only nortons antivirus please help

 

Try the uninstaller in safemode.

 

First you have to remove 'LiveUpdate' from Add/Remove, if you encounter trouble uninstalling this, visit http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/ and search for 'symNRT exe' (Norton Removal Tool), download and run it on your system, it should take care of the problem.

Click on Window98/Me and expand the +, it will lead you to the instructions for removing LiveUpdate.

I had to format and reinstall everything, hope you find a better way

 

i decided to install nortons again and then try to remove it again and it finally worked

my dad is rid of nortons after i got rid of it i downloaded avira antivir for him and ran it to make sure he didnt have any viruses on his computer
