Look at some KVM switches. Lets you use one keyboard, mouse and monitor with 2 computers. Some work via keyboard. I am not sure if that will work or not, and am too lazy to shut down my computer and hook one up to test it. But be carefull when you mess with the IT folks...

Wow people wonder why IT departments have policies like that, Seriously, you want a bigger monitor, go talk to IT and say hey, im not getting much done with the smaller monitor, is it ok if i go get my self one and bring it in, inside of pretending to break something and waste company assests? Not to mention any good IT person would hook it up to another pc anyways and say oh look it does work.

    simple solution.
take ball peen hammer and smash screen.
lay hammer on desk next to broken monitor.
now, it is in fact, broken.
write 17" or larger on an index card and place under handle of the hammer. if IT guys are half intelligent they should figure out the obvious.
if they are not, keep using the hammer until desired results are achieved.
of course, if it is found that YOU are cheaper to replace than the monitor, then search for a position where 17" or larger monitors are supplied.:D
    sorry, couldn't help it

There was actually a thread that had exactly that here, meant as a practicle joke. Don't remember where it is, but try doing a search on here.

HAHA! At my job we have about 9 things open and running 4-5 of which we use at a time, and i need that desktop space. And IT knows it.. i did try that route first. I told them.. i cannot work efficiently with this smaller monitor. But they looked at me and said.. but it's not broken, i can't replace it unless it's broken. And by the time thte IT person plugged it in to realize it does work, i'd already have a new monitor.

What happens when they find out you lied? :( working efficiently might be the least of your problem, not working at all might take it's place.

Of course it could simply be that your screen resolution is set too coarse.
    Try upping it.
If you run a monitor with too high a resolution it won't last long anyway.

It is not a program, but a High Resolution image of a Cracked LCD Screen. Do a Image search with any search engine for the image.
