A question about video card comparison

    Ok guys, I have a PCI-Express MSI X800XL, 256MB.

My friend recently got an X800XT 256MB but his is AGP... Theoretically his is faster because of higher MHz, but mine is PCI-Express. Just out of curiosity, does the fact that mine's PCI-Express make it as good as his (his has the same # of pipelines than mine and is only slightly faster clock speeds).

So does the fact that it's PCI-E make up for my lost ground or is AGP still holding its own? If you were to try the same CPU, memory, and card twice, but one with an AGP card and one with a PCI-E card, would there be any difference? Albeit, the difference probably wouldn't be noticeable... But can the computer tell a difference?

Sorry for such a silly question :p

for now, the difference between agp and pci-e is very minimal and not really noticable. The only thing that i have seen in comparisons between the same cards with different interfaces is memory clock speeds. ex: agp 6600gt memory clock=900mhz, pci-e=1000mhz. not a big difference but if you have the choice of a pci-e card over an agp, go pci as u can always run SLI or crossfire in the future, with a supporting mobo of course

PCIXpress has a higher bandwith than AGP.

However, bandwith isn't the limiting factor, the GPU currently is.

I know there isn't much difference between exact cards on PCI-E and AGP, but I'm just wondering does the fact that mine is PCI-E help any since he has the next highest level card?
