well i used to have antiVira anti virus but apparently it was so strong that it basicly wouldnt let me change anything in msconfig , i was administrator and i still couldnt change kept giving me an error so i deleted avira. so now im wondering wat would be a good anti virus that wont interact with world of warcraft and would protect me well anyways.

I have used and am using Avira AntiVir. Never had any problems like you describe.
Must be some other configuration setting causing that.

well when i downloaded it i put it on very high detection and i did something else inside its configuration, mind telling me how ur anti vira is configured?

because since it was on such high setting or w/e i did, i tried to like run in safe mode and do other things and I am the administrator BUT it told me that i wasnt. after i deleted it im able to change setting in msconfig without a problem and nomore saying that im not the admin. so ya would you please tell me how yours is configured?

( another reason i deleted it is for some reason that guard was probably stopping me from downloading the world of warcraft patches properly) so i dnno maybe it was how i configured it. so i need to kno how urs is configured if u wouldnt mind telling me.

It may not even be Avira AntiVir causing your download troubles.
If you have your firewall set to high, it may block some things like that that needs to use an open port for connecting(on-line games for instance). Mistakes them for trojans(or E.T.) calling home, so they get blocked.

well i just redownloaded avira and put it on the default setting everything how it starts of being. and i tried to change something in msconfig and again i got that error about me not being admin, as soon as i delete avira i can do things in msconfig with no error so i dnno wat it is. --- i really need an anti virus tho , seems avira is out of the question i wanted avg but i downloaded alot of the things in the HOW TO PROTECT URSELF FROM MALWARE like spywarebuster and such so i read that avg has problems with em and stuff. i dnno any other good anti viruses. im running outa ideas =\

windows xp professional sp3, spybot search and destroy but no tea timer since that confused me to no end. UMM thats about it ( spybot only got that immunitize thing and the SDhelper on) / realplayer/windows media player / vlc media/ if u want i can show u a dxdiag if that might show wats running rite now for me.

If Spybot S&D is the only protection you have installed, this could possibly be an infection.
    My personal defenses consist of.
    Avira AntiVir
    Comodo firewall
    SpywareBlaster
    SpywareGuard
    SuperAntiSpyware
    MalwareBytes
    WinPatrol
    RogueRemover.

ahha ya i might try that , i remember when my old comp broke the tech who reformated it for me ( dnno how he reformated it the adware returned the next day ) the avast seemed complicated it had lik 2 diff things with it. had no idea wat both did LOl

Did this "tech" do a format or a repair installation?
A real format will clear EVERYTHING off of the hard drive requiring a clean install of the OS.

this was on my old comp and i told him to do a full reformat, and i left it with him overnight cuz he said thats wat he needed, i came back next day to pick it up and went home, installed it and ike 30min later i got another pop up and 3 weird named prgrams in my msconfig that i did a search for and they never came up. this costed me 100 bucks LOL. so after the malware returned i just gave up and bought a new computer.
