I know there is a simple solution to this, but my brain hurts, and I just can't recall.....

Whenever I open an IE window, I have to maximise the window, as it opens on a small viewer. For the life of me I cannot find out how to set it so a maximised window opens automatically. Can someone out there point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks.

    Sincerely, the stoooopid one ;)

Normally, it should open at the same size as it was when closed. In other words, if you have it maximized and then close it, it should open maximized. But, sometimes, IE seems to develop amnesia and more persistent prodding is necessary to get it to remember. Have a read here:
Explorer Windows won't open maximized when launched

If your issue is still unresolved after trying the suggestions there, post back and someone may have another suggestion.

Note that the article is from 2003 - very old.

If your browser is not re-opening at the same size as when it was last closed, try hitting "refresh" before closing it. Then it should open again at that size. If not, perhaps you could provide a brief list of what else is running on the system, because it's possible that something else is causing this symptom.

Also, do you have any browser "toolbars" installed?

To get rid of this problem (for good) simply download & install this tiny program IE New Window Maximizer. This program will maximize every new Internet Explorer and Outlook Express window that you open.

The program offers several useful options however; it needs to be configured properly. Be sure to take a few moments look over the included "help files" because; although this program works great - it will require a tiny bit of configuration in order for it to work properly and for you to get the most out of it.

Please Note: This is the light version and doesn't include the VB6 Runtime Files. They can be downloaded from the Major Geeks Miscellaneous Section (click here). (Since most people have these, it makes for a smaller download).

    Good Luck!

Thanks for all your advice. Using some of the original suggestions, hasn't helped. IE is still opening in a reduced window. I don't want OE windows maximised, so haven't downloaded and installed any software - this is only a small notepad anyway, and i don't really want any unnecessary stuff. But thanks. Small note - i do have the google toolbar......
