I don't know if this is the right forum for this but for the last few days the sound on my pc has gone quiet, when I play a movie or cd I've got to turn my speakers up full and even then the sound is very quiet and hissy, where as before I had a great sound, no settings have been changed, the volume is turned up full and all conections are good. The sound on my pc is SoundMax Digital Audio.
    Any help would be great,
    Thanks,
    Fangy.

    Hi fangy.

There is more than more than one place on your computer where sound can be adjusted try looking in the control panel for sound effects manager or something similair.

Also I've seen something similair several times where the culprit has been the mini-jack connecting to your sound card has come loose and is only partially plugged in.

i had the same problem with my SoundMAX audio card, but my sound was very quite after some hours of working on the computer, but after i rebooted all restored. i don't know the reason of this, that's why i bought single audio card.

    How you doing,
I've had a look at the connections to and from my speakers, everything is ok there, I also had a look through the sound, speech and audio devices menus, everything looks ok there to, all the volume sliders are at full, and in the sound and devices properties, under Hardware it says everything is working properly, in "all programs/accessories/entertainment..volume control" all the sliders are full. Is there anything I'm missing?
Any Ideas? Thanks for the help,
    Fangy.

i thunk it's more hardware issue, and in my office we have computers with inbuilt SoundMax Digital Audio, and all of them have the same problem!:(
