    Hi Everyone:

    I have a question.

I've been d/loading a few of the programs from here at M.G. this
morning and doing some scans for viruses and spyware. I am
not seeing any problems at this time. Just sort of interested
to see if any scans show up anything on the computer.

I d/loaded one program called Spy Bouncer, from here at M.G.
It scanned and has founds some problems with my computer's
registry and also a few files.

The thought occurred to me to find the list that you
all posted for spyware programs that shouldn't be
used. I found the list. Spy Bouncer is on it.

I don't know what to do now. I did not let Spy Bouncer
    fix anything yet.

I did this same thing awhile back, but had found a software
program on the Internet, (not here at M.G) and scanned with
it and it found a huge number of problems. M.A. talked
to me about that and said just disregard it as it wasn't
a good program to use. I don't know if I've done the
    same thing again or what.

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Maggie

    Hi,
We ran the program extensively before listing and found no problems. Is there a specific reason it is on that list and more importantly did it cause any harm? I will re-run it today, but would like to know why it is on that list.

Ran Ad-Aware SE Plus With Ad-Watch, my system comes up clean.

License agreement makes no mention of installing any spyware, and actually claims not to.

Installed SpyBouncer, Ad-Watch detected a registry attempt, which was fine, relating the Spy Bouncer webupdate.

Ran Spy Bouncer, found 130 or so items, but in a DEEP scan, not done by Ad-Aware. It is VERY aggresive finding things relating to Flashget that it calls spyware as well as RealPlayer. All can be verified, removal of some might cause FlashGet to stop working. Tough call. If your super anal, it scans very deep and is effective.

Ran Ad-Aware after, all clean here. Screenshots follow.

I dont know why it is on the rogue list unless its a rip-off of another program, which we are unaware of. Any info to add, let me know, but I am confident its a good program, as we were when we added it here.

    Hi Major:

No harm to my computer from running SpyBouncer.
I didn't let it fix anything. Most errors it found
were in registry and I don't know anything about
that and was, frankly, afraid to try to have it
fix those items. Something interesting about
those registry items. I made note of the items
listed by SpyBouncer and did a search on
my computer for them. ALL of them are related
to the program Omniguard Anti-Spy Program.
That is the program that I scanned with
a few months ago and was very worried
about the results of and wrote a thread
here and you wrote back reassuring
me that it wasn't a good program to
use and not to worry about it. So, at that time
I did the "add-remove" command and
thought I had gotten rid of the thing.
    After seeing those registry items,
I went into "my computer" and looked
at "program files". It is still there. I
tried to find "uninstall" within the
    Anti-Spy Program folder but there
    isn't one.

As far as the "list" goes, the only thing
I know about it is that I recalled seeing
it here at MG and thought I might check
it out, just for curiousity's sake, to
see if Spybouncer might be on it.
It was on the "list". That's all I know.

Thanks for your time. I appreciate it.
I'd be interested if you have any
    comments after you run Spybouncer.

Just what I said, thats my comments and I stick with them. Personally, I prefer a tried and true product who was the when spyware was discovered and that is Ad-Aware.

Our list actually is sourced here http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Seems they have 3 complaints - 1 indicating a false positive (which happens with stuff like this), and 2 claiming a hijack.

The first hijack claim was actually from someone who didnt know he could use add/remove to uninstall the file. (dismissed)

The second, actually got a hijack from g o g g l e . com (dont go there it is a bad page) which also advertised Spy Bouncer on the page. The user put 2 and 2 together and got 5.

This file should not be on that list and should be removed.

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to me
and to explain things. I really appreciate it.

Major, I also scanned with Ad-Aware, just now.
Came up with no problems at all. I think
it's best if I stick with the Ad-Aware Program.
