I am running windows 7 ultimate (fully paid up not the freebie) and am having a couple of strange problems.

1 when i boot up all is fine but i get a pop up that says "NVCPL.dll" is not loaded so i click OK and the pc runs fine, as this is a Nvidia dll i loaded the newest driver but nothing changes ?

2 I do not know if this is related but sometimes (not always) when i double click to open an application (MBAM does it most) i get a BSOD that ends with contact your administrator (i am logged in as Admin) i then have to re-boot,If i open MBAM with right click as admin it never fails to open (not yet anyway)

I tried a repair from disk of the OS but ut would not give me a repair option it wanted a custom or new install.

    Any ideas please.

Ps it's not a problem if i have to re-install.

    Hi Bill

What is the code if possible of the BSOD?

Boot into Safe Mode and see if things still cause issues.

What startups do you have that run at boot?
Maybe worth disabling all startups using msconfig, then reboot and see if PC is ok, if it is then enable one at a time until you start getting weird issues again.

For the nvidia issue, I woudl clean install the driver, so uninstall with Add/Remove and then use Driver Sweeper and install it but dont run it in normal mode, go into Safe Mode and run it to uninstall any reminents of the nvidia driver, then re-install the latest Win7 driver.

TBH Bill, if lsat resort is a repair install, I would personally do a new clean install.

    Hi Bill

When you boot to your Windows 7 DVD (as it has repair options built in) and after the page where you choose the language, the screen shows Install in the middle and down the left corner should be a Repair your Computer?

Would try the steps I mentioend above as never know the nvidia driver could be a root cause.

As i said murphys law just after my post it did it so just in case you are not able to see the pic clearly.

    *** STOP:0X0000001E (0XFFFFFFFFC0000046,0XFFFFF80002B027F8,0XFFFFF88008E5CAC0,0XFFFFF80002AFA88F)

iI did not go as far as language will look again.

    Hi Bill

Yes indeed Murphys law ;) that Stop error tends to off hand link to driver issues, an out dated or wrong one, so still leaning to the nvidia one, but did you have to install any non Windows 7 drivers on that PC, also as some applications install drivers themselves do run soem startup troubleshooting of apps as mentioned earlier.

Could be beneficial in this case to attach a dump log and Adryns info here will help http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35246

I am just in the process of checking my drivers now (one by one) so it could be a long job.

Thanks for the input if i don't resolve it i will post back.:confused

All drivers are up to date and when i boot i do not get the pop up any more.

The other point about the crash dump still happens when i open certain apps, if the shortcut has just the small blue arrow at the bottom left it will start OK but if it has a blue and yellow shield bottom right i have to start it as admin even though i am logged in as admin.

I have done a repair with my disk but nothing has changed.

    Hi Bill

Somethings really messed up and I will be honest, not got a clue apart from permissions are messed up and that could cause the icons you mention but as to the resolution and an easy one, I would now that you know the drivers that are needed to do a clean install, but dont install any third party applications until (and disconnected from the net after initial install of Windows) you have installed the already downloaded drivers and checked with a few reboots your PC runs ok.

Then install one app at a time, start with security apps as they are the most likely to cause issues.
