A Thin Red Line

Hi all.

I have a problem some of you may be able to help me with:

I built my system about 7 months ago. since then I haven't had any problems.
All of the sudden I am starting to see a thin red line on my screen that runs verticaly about 5 or six inches from the right side of the screen. It's not there all the time. It just pops up randomly. I figure it's one of three things; my mobo, my graphics card, or my monitor. I supose it could also be a wierd virus or something as well. I have scoured the support forums and faq's of all my manufacturers and haven't been able to find anything about this. Anyone have a clue what this is?

Here are my components:
ASUS A-8N SLI Premium
XFX Geforce 7800 GT
AMD 64 4000
2 Gig Corsair Ram
21" widescreen Gateway monitor

Any input is greatly appreciated

 

Not much help but a friends pc had the same line,hooked up his monitor to my pc, same line, so its in the monitor but dont know why or what. ed

 

Actually, that helps alot. If nothing else at least I can rule out a few things. Plus, my monitor is still under warranty. Think I'll give gateway a call. If anyone else would like to add something I would be gald to listen!
