Ok, I need to set up my desktop so that it recognizes the wireless router attachted to it so that the router will broadcast a signal. The problem is, I have a WWAN connection through verizon rather than a Cable Modem. IS it possible to take a blue cable and attach it to the router so that it will broadcast a signal? I've been working on this for two days, helop would be greatly appriciated.

I thought DSL and cable were the same, put the incoming line into the uplink of the router, then connect any PC's or wireless cards. Your connection incoming from Verizon is not CAT5 cable?

My desktop's connection is another wireless connection. It doesn't seem to rely on another network. It connects from anywhere. Kind of a cool little thing. What I'm trying to say is that no modem is involved. And the incoming line is another wireless card.

Would you please start clear over - I'm lost and it's probably my fault?

    1. You have dsl?
    2. So you do have a phone line from the wall to a dsl modem?
    3. Does that modem have a built-in router, or is your router a separate appliance?
    4. You want to develop a wireless setup because you don't have one so you want to hook a "blue" - is that bluetooth? - into a router port?
    5. If you don't have wireless, how are you connecting "from anywhere?"
    6. Are you sure you aren't catching a neighbor's wireless network and using it?

Can you please look at these questions, answer them, and add as much as you can?

Not your fault, I just don't know how to explain it.
    1. I have a wireless wide area connection coming to a verizon PC5220 wireless card.
    2. This means that I have no phone line from the wall meaning I don't have a modem.
    3. My router is seperate from my card.
    4. I want to develop a wireless setup so other computers (a laptop) can have a wireless connection at the same time as my desktop. By "blue wire" i mean ethernet wire. My plan was to have my computer's connection go to the router so that it may also broadcast a connection, making other computers with wireless capability connect to the internet.
    5. I refer to my first answer. I have a wireless wide area connection coming to my desktop to a card from verizon meant for connecting to the internet from anywhere. (We don't have cable or dsl available in our area, it's too "remote". Which is why we were forced to use this stupid wireless, which doesn't agree with my online gaming addiction.)
    6. I'm quite sure that we aren't catching someone else's wireless network.

I can post screens of the application I use or answer all I can about it if I need to.

OK, OK! So you have NOTHING connected to the house - this is like satellite or from a big wireless tower and you simply receive it directly out of the air? If true, no wonder you lost us. Is that true? I've not used it, but the principles are going to be the same.

If that's true, do you have anything they gave you or told you to use like a router, or did you just decide you would use a router?

Let's get on the same page and figure this out....

I apologize about the time lapse, I've been very busy the last few weeks.

The Verizon Wireless WWAN connection, called Nationwide Broadband Access (if you travel, it's all over the advertisements at airports) will allow for a laptop to connect to the internet anywhere. I have used an attachment made my Belkin for wireless internet cards to go into one of my PCI slots to make the card provide service to my computer. I want to use this card, while connectwed to my computer, to try and give the ability to broadcast to a wireless router.
