A wonderfully fun computer problem.

Ok so I'm barrowing my friend's piece of crap IBM Thinkpad. It's a PII 400MHz with 128 MB of RAM running Win 2k Pro. Yea it sucks. So it has worked fine since he bought it years ago and for the past year I've been using it. When I first got it I cleaned off almost everything nonessential program even antivirus (I just scan from my Norton install CD every now and then) and the firewall because I wasn't going to ever connect it to the net. So the only thing I have been using it for lately is to keep track of my Dungeons and Dragons characters and other whatnot that deals with that game. So I booted it up after I got back to my room (the battery lasts about 5 min so I always have to shut it down when traveling and keep it plugged when running it) from our DnD session to retrieve some stuff off of it. It booted fine and I retrieved the data. I set the laptop on the cold tile floor which holds heat very poorly and left it running while I used my main computer. When I set it down it was running just fine displaying the desktop. An hour later I looked over and it was doing something weird. Upon further inspection I realized that it was trying to tell me to put in a floppy disk and then hit F1. Now what floppy you ask? That's a very good question. See if you can tell what one it is here. http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/5461/img1464to7.jpg Also I don't have the floppy drive for it. It's one of those computers where you have to swap the CD and 3.5 drives. After several unsuccessful boot attempts (most ending in the previous screen) I finally got this. http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/5172/img1462yf0.jpg Now to me that tells me something is messed up with the video driver or something to that effect. So here's my question. How do I fix it.

The other screens that it stops on are as follows.

Screen one lists these two sets of numbers.

    I9990301
    I9990305

Screen two just locks up at the ram check thing when you first turn the computer on.

Well after trying that with a Win 2k Pro SP3 disk that I barrowed from a friend the comp says that "Setup has determined that your computer's startup hard disk is new or has been erased, or that your computer is running an operating system that is incompatible with Windows 2000." What now? I tried booting a Live CD Linux just so I can xfer some data but it won't boot up with that.

Ok after fiddling around in the very unuser-friendly bios I found the boot sequence and managed to run a Linux live cd.
