A64 wont run flat out

    Now, this A64 3000 has been running folding for months... but in the past month it has stopped running flat out and has gone down to 800mHz when folding.
    The Task Manager says it's using 100% processing yet the pc Properties reports 800mHz not 1.8GHz...
    If I start running other apps it ramps back up again :rolleyes:

    Any ideas if it's folding or my pc that's at fault?

    sounds like cool n quiets kicked in and reset the speed lower, I have/had that issue with my laptop ( btw is it a laptop? ) even when on mains the power scheme in XP scales the cpu speed down until needed as with the extra apps.


    I use this for my power scheme settings now and works really well on my AMD64 3500+ SpeedswitchXP

    You might want to check out your bios settings for "CPU Thermal Throttling" or somthing similar. My rig certainly has this, and its a pain because you can't adjust the thresholds for throttling. Means that because my rig runs 48C load I can't set throttling at 50C because its all the way up at 70C.

    Yes, it's a laptop... Have got Speedswitch running - nice little app :) But the problem was... Fluff build-up in the fan grill!!
    Doh! At least it's sorted and I can get back to folding hard!!
