ABBYY FineReader 5.0 removal:

Perhaps someone can assist me with this issue:I wish first to know if I need and what this program is residing on my system and consumeing 101 MB of space.I can't remove it via ADD/REMOVE programs in Win XP Home edition as I get this error"Internal error 2753.F2509_Sprint.EXE" every time I begin the removal process.According to the ADD/REMOVE programs list,it hasen't been used since 5/27/04.

I have asked this question in other forums,it has been reviewed but no responses/answers as to the above issue.Anyone have a suggestion to this help me solve this problem?

 

A quick google of the program name tells me that it is OCR software. This is used by scanners to convert scanned text for use in word processor programs. If you have a scanner, it was more than likely installed then and you need it if you plan to scan any documents.

For the second item, sprint.exe, appears to be the engine for the OCR reader and probably starts when the system starts and is running when you try to remove the program. Bring up task manager and check if sprint.exe is a running process. if so, terminate it and then try an uninstall.

 

Try re-installing the program again if you have the CD and then uninstall it.
