AbiWord

    This might be a stupid question, but I am getting very frustrated.
    I downloaded AbiWord and when I click on it, it goes to WinZip. It extracts the files, but I can't figure out how to open it.
    I tried looking at their website on how to install or execute it, but couldn't find anything there either.
    Help????????:confused:

    I dont have any experience with WinZip, but I use WinRAR and it extracts files very easily

    When you extract it ...it prompts for where you want it to go ...choose c:/program Files/
    It will create a folder ...open the folder to the exe file.

    Well, I am looking, but so far have not found an exe. file.

    Ok ....click on the desktop icon that you downloaded ...box chowing where to extract to ...I choose c:/abiworld (create new folder)....it extracts it to there ...open the folder and double click on the icon similar to the one on the desktop ...opens.

    What do I want to open it with? It only shows Winzip or IE.
    Winzip takes me back to extracting. Shows folders, but does not open. IE does nothing.

    Sorry ....double click on the download ...winzip will show a box with the place where it will extract to ...next to that is a tab ..click the tab...will open your directory tree..plus sign my computer ...then click on c drive ...hit tab create folder/name it abiworld ....highlight the folder and okay ...will extract it to that folder ...then open my computer ..navigate to that folder double click and you will have a single folder ..double click it and there will be 5 folders ..double click the abiworld icon and the program will start.

    I am sorry I am so much trouble. I did all you said, but when I get to where you say there should be 5 folders, I show 15. abi, abidstfiles, abipbx, abiword-docs, abiword-plugins, expat, fribidi, libiconv, libpng, MSVC6, MSVC71, pbx, popt, wv, zlib
    if I double click on abi, it shows another 29 files

    The one I downloaded is abiword-2.4.4.tar
    28.8 mb

    Did I download the wrong one? Maybe I just delete it and download the portable.

    I showed her I downloaded it and she said it looked fine. Not too excited....
