about:blank hell exacerbated

    Hi, I'm a novice at all this stuff.. when I found I had about:blank I looked on the web and saw the tools available and used them willy nilly. Now having discovered this site I realise I have exacerbated the situation by running them all, CWShredder, hijackthis et al... Further, I ran spybot and deleted everything in sight. Also a mistake I believe.

    Have I made it impossible to get rid of this nightmare? I didn't know whether it was worth attaching any logs just yet. I'd like to receive some expert advice before doing anything else.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Jim,

    Have you run the most recent update of Ad-aware too? If not, do so (make sure to update first).
    The shutdown all applications (especially browsers and Win Explorer sessions) and run HijaakThis
    and post the complete log which includes system information & processes.
