Hello. I was finally able to get HijackThis up and running after I got rid of my very out-of-date McAfee. I have read and performed all the steps in the Malware Removal Guide. I was able to clean out most of the garbage, but I still get the pop-ups which say "about:blank" on IE. I don't ever really use IE, instead I use Mozilla, so I knew right away there was a problem. I am attaching my scan log from HijackThis so if anyone knows what (if anything) I ought to remove. Also, I renamed HJT to analyse.exe prior to running the scan. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Also, I am still getting lots of pop-ups which are trying to get me to download spyware and virus-removal products.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Note for the record, you do not have an about:blank hijacker problem!

You do have Virtumonde (aka Vundo) and possibly SmitFraud problems!

First run this: Virtumonde aka Trojan Vundo Removal

Now continue on and please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • VundoFix log
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use three messages to attach all of these logs!

Thank you so much for the help. I finally seem to be rid of all the problems I was having! I got rid of the virtumonde no problem with the scan. I appreciate it greatly! I will definitely be donating to this site!

You're welcome but you really should complete the instructions I gave too you. I doubt all the malware has been removed.

Yes, I am planning to run those when I have more time. I will post the scans when I have them all done.

Okay but just an important note, the longer you wait and the more reboots/powerdowns you perform, the worse the infection could become.
