About movie codec

Hi first time here. Ok i am a nood in software so please forgive me if i ask stupid question. Well have lots of question, but today i am just going to ask about movie codec. I am currently using few programs to watch movie, but mostly with BSplayer. I like to download movie and song with Ares, and some times the movie i downloaded is in all kind of format, so i install latest K-Lite codec which i manually exclude DIVX 5++ because it seem to have problem with XP and crashes my explorer every time i open a folder containing movie files. But i install the ver4 instead (Cant really remember the build number) So that means i basically cover all of the major codec.

My problem is i cant seems to play any 3ivx movie which i am sure i got the codec. And one more thing is that when i play Mpeg movie i can watch it no problem but when i try to scroll the timebar it take a quite while to refresh, which didnt happen to other movie format. And both problem happen to other player that i have like PowerDVD, Window Medis Player. Well you may wonder about my computer specs and i can tell you its not cause i can play Doom3 with the highest setting without lagging.

So i believe its the way i configure the codec or the playback setting, any clue how to solve this?

You are gonna need the divx codec. I would just go to divx.com and get it instead of getting it from a file that contains a lot of codecs. Most of the movies out there that are any good use divx and if a movie doesnt play then it probably uses divx. I dont know if i answered your question cuz i didnt really understand, but i hope this helps.
