I do not know if this is the wright way to post my questión: Anyway, I'm sure that somebody will correct me. There it goes: I cannot work with Openoffice, everytime I try to open it appears a promt saying "there are files to recover, do you want to recover them? If I say "yes" the message appears again, and again and again. I have no choice but to shut dowm the computer.I tried everything: to uninstall the program with "Revo" uninstall Java, clean the register, to install the program again... Nothing. Do I have to give up a good alternative suite o office or I have to surrender to Microsoft and buy office 2007? Thanks again for your support and the warm wellcoming.

    Man,

I've installed and used OO on quite a few machines and never saw this problem.

The first thing is, what are your system specs and what are you using for antivirus and firewall? I assume you reinstalled Java, although I'm not certain it is required for OO.

The first thing I would try, after completely uninstalling, which you have done, would be to disable my antivirus and firewall, set my home page to MJ, always safe, and then download OO from
    http://majorgeeks.com/OpenOffice.org_For_Windows_d3461.html

Also, download Ccleaner and run both cleaner and registry cleaner before the OO download.

    Good luck!

Hi, Brandypeppy, first thanks for you attention: about "specs" I assume it means specifications (english is my second language) the machine runs with xp professional and sp3 (64 bits). The antivirus is Panda but the firewall I'm using is the one of microsoft as Panda's slows some works.
The truth is I did not deactivate the firewall nor did the antivirus. The steps I followed were
    Uninstall java and OO
Run CCleaner registry and the lot
    Run Glary utilities
Install Java and reinitiate the computer
Install the latest version of OO and and again reinitiate the machine

Run OO and again the pop up "you got files that need to be recover and so on" I Will try again to follow all the steps (downloading OO from the link you gave me) but this time deactivating antivirus and firewall and see what happens, although I'm not quite confident
about it. I'll keep the community posted.

    Thanks again
    The Man from Laramie

    Hi

Try this HERE from the OpenOffice Wiki FAQ page, while I do have OpenOffice on one PC, I've not had that happen to try this out and dont think I would be able to recreate.

    Halo,

Looks like that is it. We'll wait to see if that works. Funny I never ran into this as I've installed this on over a dozen machines.
