I was just wondering...(because I'm a little nervous about the negatives I read about SP2 "breaking" some applications)...

If I don't install SP2, will I not be able to get any more of the critical updates without it?

Right now, I run my computers behind a router, use Norton antivirus, SpywareGuard, SpywareBlaster, WinPatrol and regularly run Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I also have the XP Home firewall activated. To tell the truth, with these programs installed and careful surfing, I honestly feel fairly well-protected. My only experience with any software firewall was Norton Internet Security and it was a nightmare! I never knew what to allow and what not to allow and I would rather not have to go thru all that again.

Which brings me back to my question: will critical updates installations in the future be dependent on having SP2 installed?

    Thanks for any input!

    Most likely.

Not all of them, but expect a lot of them to build on SP2.
