Save your money, I have given up on AC2 - you will too.
This is coming from someone who still plays Diablo2, as old as D2 is, it is still fun. Asheron's Call 2 has ceased being fun. The few programmers that are left are either clueless or under orders to nerf the game into oblivion.

    says it pretty well.
The problem could be some of the "nothing better than the XBox for gaming" policy MS has adopted, or it could be basic flaws that cannot be remedied. Either way the game has gone sour.

In case you think I am some newb at AC2, I am known as Hi Sailor, a lvl 50 enchanter and Hi Fellah, a lvl 51 tact turned Juggie.

I play AC2 and have hunted with Hi Sailor a few times as well. The truth of Asheron's Call 2 is this: It is meant to be played at a slower pace. Do not rush your way through the game or you will get bored. The current "live" devs were handed a game that was totally unbalanced and have had to spend the last year just on fixing all the classes while trying to add content. So be happy you have not been paying a monthly fee while this was going on.

With that said, a new player coming into AC2 will have a blast. The game is very solid all the way up to level 30. Take your time and enjoy it. There is a lot to see and do.

From 30 to 40 things slow down. The game is underdeveloped for players of this level at this time. They have been focusing on the early game (for the newbs) and on the late game (for all the vets that hit the level cap both because they play a lot and also because the game was just too darn easy to level in when it came out).

40-50 gets fun again, you can hunt some intersting monsters (Tyrants = Dragons). They added the "Hero" quest at 45 so you can continue on past the original 50 level cap. Things are pretty good here, but they still need to do a little work on the Hero levels, IMO.

So I say, if you can afford the monthly fee ($12.95) and are a casual gamer, this is a good game to play. Graphics are great, the solo play is pretty darn good, the new development team has really turned things around.

If you like to be uber and play all day, this may be a good game for you to skip.

Hi Jamiko - I did not associate you with your AC2 char.

Jamiko has put it rather well. Perhaps this is just not my type of game. Or perhaps I rushed through it - two lvl 50 took about 3 weeks playing 4-5 hours a day. But my friends were already lvl 48 + and helped a lot.

On the other hand you might consider Morrowind which requires no monthly fee, has a better plot and never lags. But then you forfeit the community that AC2 has. I do miss the Allegiance people in AC2 and hope to find a game that plays well AND has good people.
