ac97 drivers for 82801db. TRIED EVERYTHING

u guys seem really good at this so hopefully u can help. i have attached my everest report.

i installed the software suggested to me by driver detective. all went great except for the sound drivers. was realtek ac'97 so got the blue screen and pc rebooted. obviously tried it more than once with no success so have been on the internet for several days since. realtek dont have any other option for me to try so have been trying soundmax and via ac97 drivers. no success with soundmax (cannot find file) and Via/vinyl looked to work and my sound hardware was recognised and installed but no sound comes out of the pc. removed all and have checked intel website for 802801db drivers aswell as phoenix (was deperate) and still nothing is working. help me please guys.

PS get rid of driver detective it's dangerous.
use your device manager to find which drivers need updating.

 

thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately under noyebooks my product family is not shown so i cant complete a search. any other suggestions?

 

if you post the model and name of the laptop i will see what i can find, all other details i have from Everest.

 

its a sony vaio vgn-s18gp model pcg-6cdp. have been having a really hard time and just did a intel chipset update on it for the odem 8sspm north bridge but still no help.

unfortunately none of these contain audio drivers. downloaded bios update. the sonicstage downloads dont work as it tells me the required product is not found on my pc. cant find sonicstage anywhere on the net as i need 2.3 and 4.3 only available whic didnt work when i tried it.

 

from what i see on the web there are no audio drivers in the sonicstage packages anyway.

 

hey halo,

installed chipset software and restarted, tried to install the audio drivers suggested but got msg "driver not found. please reboot system and install again" which i did and still get same msg. have tried several soundmax drivers with same result.

 

oh, and i still have the yellow ! next to multimedia audio drivers. ac97ich4.sys is the only driver that would install and then windows recognised my sound hardware but still no sound came out of my speakers. (yes i did have the volume turned all the way up and made sure it wasnt muted!)

 

i found this driver (http://www.4shared.com/network/sear...chExtention=&submitButton=Search&searchmode=2) on the internet which installs and looks good in device manager, however no sound is coming out of my pc when i play something.

 

how to check it?

 

Click Start; click Run; type compmgmt.msc and press Enter; click the little plus sign next to Services & Applications; click Services; when the right pane populates, click Standard down at the bottom of the right pane; scroll down until you see Windows Audio and right click it, select Properties. The Properties window should look exactly like the one in the screen shot below....
