accelerator and other q's

hi all,
I run windows vista, and am sort of new to all this, I also am unfortunatly stuck on dial up connection. Been thinking about trying a down load manager, as i lose connection on a regular basis, and an accelerator. Any suggestions or ideas for anything that may bake downloading less of a nightmare?

Both work with Vista fine.

just to clarify, will this allow me to resume downloads that get interrupted by my server disconnecting?

Yes, so long as the server is set to allow resumed downloads.
