Access 97 Window will not close

I have recently replaced the disks in my laptop and reinstalled Windows XP SP2.

Most things are working OK but I am having a problem with Access.

I run an extensive application programmed in Access 97. It has been running OK on several computers for several years with no faults.

However.

Since reinstalling Windows although it runs OK it will not shut down correctly.

On exit the Access Basic application closes but leaves the Access window open. The remaining window will not close except by opening Task Manager and invoking “End Task”.

Has anyone any ideas?

I should say that this application is running on three other computers in my organisation and they are not having problems.

Presumabably since you reinstalled windows, you also reinstalled Access (Office?).

Did you also reinstall the service packs, I believe there was at least one with 97?

If you put the Office CD in you will be given a repair option in Office setup.

The normal problem is error messages on opening, rather than closing.

 

I have a solution.

What I should have told you was that I use Office XP for everything except Access for which I use Access 97.

In the past I have always loaded ALL of Office 97 first then Office XP as an additional installation. All worked well.

In the latest installation I loaded Office XP first and then ONLY Access 97. Problems!!!

I have now loaded ALL of Office 97 and the problems have disappeared.
