Access denied after re-partitioning

A new 160gb sata drive was installed on my backup pc. It was partitioned. Tried to backup my working pc's c: drive with driveimage xml. backup started and ran for a short time, then failed with a space problem.

Using device manager I removed the sata drive and then re-scaned for hardware; it found the sata drive, I ran the western digital setup progran and re-partitioned the drive.

Now when I try to access one of the logical drives, I can open the drive, and see the icons for the data that is there, but I cannot create any new data on the drive and I cannot access any existing data

the operating system is xp-pro/sp2

I obviously missed something when I set up sharing on the logical drives, but what?

 

The following is what I'd look into.

1. Go into explorer, and click Tools, Folder Options, then select the view tab.
2. Within the view tab, uncheck "Use sharing wizard" (it is the last option).(Using vista right now, so it might be slightly different.)
3. Go into explorer, and right click the drive in question. Select properties, then the security tab.
4. Within group/usernames, what is listed here? Also, what permissions do they have?
As in, when you select each user/groupname, the bottom area will show what permissions are there.
