"access denied" to some folders

I burnt some folders, subfolders, and files to a CDRW, so I could move them from one computer, to another computer. I copied all of the files to my computer to work with. But now if I try to delete any of them from my computer I get an error saying, " cannot delete: (file name), Access is denied. Make sure disk is not full or write-protected or that the file is not currently in use". If I go to the folder and click on it I get a "access denied" error.
If I look at the folder properties, the read-only box is checked. If I uncheck the box, then close, and reopen the folder properties box the read-only box is checked.
In the folder properties box of the files some have a "security" tab and some do not.
I have simple file sharing disabled.
I'm using Windows XP sp2 Professional on both computers. There is only one user account active, me, with full administrator rights.
I have and tried to use Microsoft support articles # 308421, "How to take ownership of a file or folder in windows XP", and #308418," How to set, view, change or remove file and folder permissions in windows XP". These were no help.
I need something in simple English. How do I get full access and control of all files and folders on my computer?

You can either try something like MoveOnBoot or Pocket Killbox to manually delete them.

Or you can follow the procedure HERE to take ownership of the folder.
