access problems

I am having internet problems with opening some files. For example if there is a picture and for more information it says 'view' - when I click on view another page opens with Microsoft Internet Explorer at the top but then nothing happens. The cursor and egg timer just sit there and it doesn't matter how long I leave it, it doesn't go any further. I think it is possibly something I have done but don't know what or how to fix it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
