Access to a former Administrator Account

I installed an internet connection in a computer with any kind of protection and soon started to have viruses and related problems. Well it drove me insane, so I urged to get an antivirus but it was too late. At one time when I restarted the computer it was unable to initialize. The only solution it occurred to me was to reinstall windows xp, so I did. I didn't format the hard disc as I had important documents I wanted to preserve. When the installation was over I was unable so access the documents in the former administrator account (it had a password) only the docs at the gest accounts.
Is there any possibility to recover the documentsin this account?

what you may need to do is to take ownership of that folder... to do this follow the following,

you will have to first click Tools > Folder Options > View adn untick Simple File Sharing as this gives you a new Security tab when viewing a folder/file's properties.... if you have XP Pro follow the below

then right click that folder > properties > Security > Add > Advanced > Find Now > locate your user name > click it to highlight it and click OK > OK

you will now see your name in a box called Group or user names?

click OK

you should now have access to that folder

OK, I have now access to the folder but not the subfolders.. When i try, for instance to access 'my documents' appears the same error message as before. When I go to properties of 'my documents' it appears the following message ' You do not have permission to view or edit the current permission settings for my documents, but you can take ownership or change auditing setting.'
Well this is my problem now..

do it again on the documents and settings folder and make sure you check the box on the bottom that says to take ownership of all subcontainers.
