Acer 17" LCD AL1715W

I bought a new 17" widescreen LCD screen. I was really happy cause it was the first one i ever owned. But with my stupid luck, what do ya know? its either DOA or maybe you guys can help...

I got it out of the box, hooked up the cables that came with it, hooked it up to my computer. Then i powerd it on.

WhiteScreen.

I thought this was normal so i pressed the Auto button like the sticker that was on the monitor said. Still no luck. So i thought it might be my graphics card. So i tweaked with the settings ( while somehow screwing up firefox..?) I still get a white display. I know my computer is sending a signal because the screen turns off as soon as i unplug it from the computer.

I have tried it on my laptop also thats suposed to do multi-monitors. And -.- the colors on that are now 8-bit.

I spent 100$ for this thing, and its stupid how it doesnt work. I need some help...what causes the white screen? I cant even see the menu thing when i press menu.

I'll be a little more specific. When it powers on. All there is, is a white screen. regardless if its hooked up to my PC or not. There is no onscreen messege when its unhooked from my computer. Just...white. when i press the menu button, nothing happens. the other 2 buttons dont work, and the auto button seems to enable brightness settings or something.

Please tell me this isnt a DOA because ive been wanting an LCD for 4 years now. and when i finaly get it. It doesnt work.

It is a White Screen no matter what is done to it. If its turned on, there is a white screen. My computer detects the monitor, and even "extends" my display to it. but my other screen, it reacts, but only to keep it on. The image doesnt change at all.

The only thing that happens when i unplug, isthe light turns orange for like 4 seconds then the monitor goes into like standby
