Hi, a buddy recently formatted my Acer Aspire 3690 and reinstalled XP, as Vista was to slow. Since then my sound/audio drivers have disappeared. I've downloaded the correct chipset drivers and audio drivers from Acer's website, but had no success. I've tried contacting ACER, but I mite as well have been asking the same questions to a brick wall, as the advisor indicated that he had no clue as to what to do. Can anyone please help?: confused

Was XP on the computer when it was new? If so, did the sound work?

    This site http://www.laptops-drivers.com/laptop-driver/acer-aspire-3690-drivers-xp.html
which I do not recommend downloading from, points out that the proper Realtek driver is Ver.5.10.0.5273 make sure that is the version you have installed.

Your Acer probably includes a restore/recovery partition. You might have to go back to that to get the sound working.

    Note for me: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3690.html
has a link to a file for How to run eRecovery
