Acer Aspire F10 not working. Need files

This is my first post on major Geeks.

I am trying to repair an Acer Aspire (6935G) laptop for a friend. On boot up it runs the repair tool and reports it cannot repair the errors so it will not boot into Windows. What I wanted to do was to restore it to its factory settings but the Alt\F10 function does not work. It says each time (in a black DOS looking screen)

The only options I have is enter or escape which takes me back to square one each time (running the repair tool).

After reading all I could about it on the web I came to the conclusion that the Acer (special) MBR has been overwritten – thus Alt/F10 is not working (at least not as it should be). D2D in the BIOS is enabled.

Anyway, from what I have read on the web, I needed to locate (on the hidden partition) the two files rtmbr.bin and mbrwrdos.exe and run a command line but they are not there.

I can access a virtual DOS after the attempted repair so I can see the Pqservice partition and search it but I cannot find the files. I have searched using Dir /s and searched manually. I assume something has zapped this machine.

I have been trying to locate the two files all day on the web but I cannot find them. Can anyone help me please? I am at the point of giving up.

I know that some may be saying that even if I find the files it still won’t work but I just wanted the satisfaction of trying. Any help would be very much appreciated.
