Do you have much experience with HW?

Would you be willing and confident enough to pull it apart and clean it? Just verifying laptop or desktop?

Well I definitely wouldn't recommend pulling it apart then, get a friend experienced in the matter to do it, pulling a laptop apart is a very tricky process and very easy to muck up. Trust me ... oh if I had a dollar for every person that said ... hey Drizzles, I tried to pull my laptop apart and clean it ... I thought I put it back together but its not doing anything ... what do I do

Get an experienced friend to clean it thoroughly and check the fans are spinning and working properly. Then when you get it back, check your HDD for errors. Go to CMD, type chkdsk /r it will ask you to restart, press y. Have you checked your Event Viewer for chkdsk reports before?? Also what OS, Vista or XP?

Ok well after doing the chkdsk do a right click on My Computer, select Manage, select Event Viewer, and down the bottom, select Application, order by date and find the latest entry called wininit. In the bottom section you will find the results, post them here. But definitely get it cleaned first.
