Well for such a nice system this seems to be getting a bad rep for itself, now finding out why...
So help please with any of this.

Have been asked to sort this system. I beleive its a blown board, but have yet to check the processor.

Acers thake on it is this... It is just out of warrenty, their only solution now for this product is to return it and they will do a check and reprt for £50, then they will repair the motherboard as they dont supply new ones for this model an approximate cost is £150. then with shipping and all other cost its about £250-£300, the system was bought new for £350. and just on the worst side of the 2 year warrenty.

So... all help any suggestions... compatabilities actual identifables .. anything welcome.

    Stephen.

    Hello Stephen.

What exactly is the issue with the motherboard, what is/isn't working on it?
Possibly from there, we can start troubleshooting exactly what the issue is.

On plugging in and start up as normal... there are no reactions from anything... led's come on for power and fans activate but absolutely nothing else... no bells no whistles or beeps.
This was from a normal shutdown and a restart the next day... not been abused or ill treated and rarely moved around.
After talking to Acer, it's just out of warranty and their only answer is to have it sent back and they will test it for £50 and they only repair this board now not replace £150 approx. The shipping and all else to be paid total aprox £250 and the system is just 2 years old and cost £350 from new.

Having searched have found its building a bad rep for same problem just on the worst side of warranty... blame bad heat dissipation.

I am capable of removing the Board and refitting but not at repairing to component level.

Ok, what I have to say here... just so as we get the pic of the system right… lol

This is a desktop unit, it’s called a small form factor MoBo about the same area as a NetBook. MoBo 24cm x 18cm aprox. It has DDR2 Laptop mem and a standard 350G SATA HDD (not Laptop) Intel V// V Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 / 1.86 GHz.

Yes have now chked individual compoments... Hdd.. Cmos Bat... Mem...Processor...

Nothing happens... no boot to bios no bells or beeps, cluncs or whirls... fan's active and power led lights up

    Slaved HDD, fine and intact.
Mem opperates on laptop fine, have changed cmos Batt for a brand new.

    Processor works on compatible board.

    Hmm,

Odd question, but the fan is running without issue ontop of the CPU correct?

Also, did you check the capacitors for any type of damage?
Seems weird for it just to die like that. :S

No apperance of any damage to any of the components, the fans are attached to case and cool by way of heat sink in an L-shape case to processor... Included Attachments of the system.. it is actualy sitting on an A4 sheet of paper to give a better perception of size.

Wow, thats a small desktop. Um, honestly at this point I'm all fresh out of ideas. Possibly someone here other than myself can assist. I'm gonna do some research and get back to you.

Hi, Still havent found a solution to the problem, have found a few specs on the motherboard and there seems to be a board available through a dutch company, but still cheking it out so have left this thread open in the hope of help or a solution but will post findings as I find them and made sure they are ok.

problem is that most board uppliers want a modle number... they dont seem to be able to go by the actual system that they go into...

Lots of confusion about... Small form factor, Micro atx and hybrid board...

i'd be very greatfull if there is any more news on this. i have 2 of these and am happy to get the soldering iron out if it can be identified where the fault lies. ;)

Well the news is at present, its the GPU Reflow and yeah you might need to get the soldering Iron out as well.

1st it is the most common problem in the L320 and most of them have died just out of warranty.
2nd Acer will repair and I say repair with a chuckle as the will not replace the board even under warranty but also want payment to look at it as well as payment to fix it.

Top tip so far... take the chip out and the memory and the HDD and use in a new rebuild, I have and even found a use for the ROM. I have looked at several services that will as they say do the repair, but due to having dealt with the same prob, from experience will not warrenty the repair.

It comes down to Heat Dissapation not being up to the job.

    thanks,
I have found 12 companies selling the boards. i nearly choked at not much change from £300. I'm still looking for a cheep supply, one company said they can get the board still listed as new. 255 plus vat and del.
if its GPU that's not an easy thing to replace. i'll try to find one, and a very small soldering iron.
    :crap

Would love to know where you found boards, when i did the specs were great but then they ended up not being the ones for this system...
