Acer aspire one Freezes on startup Win XP

    I have a Windows XP installed on my acer netbook and after doing a recent up on firefox my netbook freezes once i start up into windows...i can move the cursor, but i cant click on an icons nor goto task manager...this happens all the time now and when i try going into safe mode the same thing happens again...i want to format it but i need to get my files back so can anyone suggest a solution to my problem

    how would i do a repair?
    theres no dvd rom

    How were you planning on formatting it? And once formatted, how were you going to reinstall?

    Did the netbook come with any install or recovery media?

    And Ctr+Alt+Del will not get you into task manager in either safe or normal mode?

    You may need to contact Acer and have them send you an install media. This would either require an external CD-Rom or possibly a download to a USB flash drive.

    yea the task manager isnt working in safe mode
