Acer Aspire wont boot

I have an Acer Aspire E1-531-4806 running Win 8 that I've messed up pretty good. It all started with the HDMI port continually failing. It would just stop working, and I would have to reinstall the chipset driver to get it going again. This would happen about every three weeks. Yesterday, I reinstalled the chipset driver again, but then it wouldn't boot. It would sit at the Acer splash screen for a bit, then go into Windows repair, but wouldn't fix anything. I tried using Alt 10 to get into Acer recovery, but it wouldn't go. So I used Parted Magic (Linux) to change the recovery partition to 'boot'. Still wont boot. Changed everything back, and now I'm getting PXE-E61 and PXE-M0F errors. I noticed too that when I hit Alt F10 at the start, it says at the bottom of the screen that it's entering e-recovery, but it doesn't get there. Is there a way to set the partition flags back to default? Or does anybody have a better idea? Thanks.

 

The flags should be -

System Reserved - Active, System
Windows - Boot

If there is no System Reserved then put all three on Windows.

Did you make your recovery disks? If not you will have to get them from Acer. You may find THIS helpful.

 

Yeah I ended up just reformatting the machine and starting from scratch. I had a Win 8 OS DVD that I got with a Dell computer I have that worked. It wasn't the ideal situation, but it solved the problem. I had to delete the recovery partition on the HDD to make it work. Anyway, c'est la vie.
