   Hi,
   Could anyone tell me if the Acer Aspire 7520 laptop cooling fan should stay on continuously or should it just come on in bursts?

   Hi
   
   Generally fans will spin slowly and once the laptop gets hot as they generally do it will spin faster so you will hear it more, but once the laptop gets cool again the fan speed (RPM) will slow thus will seem quieter.
   
   Do also make sure all the vents to the laptop are free from dust and fluff as this will aid cooling,
