Acer emachines E627

Hey,
I'm working on an Acer E-machines e627
The person I'm working on it for didn't make the Recover disc before trying to recover/restore and now that restore fails because of an I/O error or what ever; Windows will no longer load in order to make said Recovery/restore CD, SO I thought Id just use my x86 Windows 7 Home prem CD, Re install the OS and afterwords get the E-machines Drivers for the laptop from the E-machines site.

Only thing is, I'm looking at the list of drivers and I don't see any chipset downloads..

What should I do??

 

Actually it's a 64bit os, but i can get that too..

 

They could be in Windows 7 or available thru Windows Update. I'd install 7, see what it has for drivers, run Windows Update (or Update Driver for each device not having a driver) if drivers are needed.

I just gave my ex-wife an older Athlon 64 setup with Win 7 x86 on it. She has an older HP inkjet printer and an older Brother laser printer. Neither HP's or Brother's web sites had Win 7 drivers for them but I ran Windows Update afterward and it found Win7 drivers for each one and they work fine.

I contacted e-machines tech support and told them what was going on, they had me download and run GWSCAN, It's a hard drive utility scan tool I guess, After i done the scan i reported back to them with the results and they said pretty much from what they could tell it was a hard drive problem but weren't sure, but sence the laptop is covered under a warranty the owner went ahead and placed an order to have it sent in to get looked at and repaired, It's free so let them do it i guess lol.
