My ACER Aspire recently took a crap on me, I had all of my videos and Pictures backed up to an external hard drive. They were encrypted with ACER's Edatasecurity. I now have an MSI S6000 and I can not open the files. I have the password but have no way of decrypting them. does anybody have any advice?

    All help is much appreciated.

    Hello,
Egis is the company that supplies the software to Acer. You may want to download and install it. It should work on a different computer but cannot guarantee it. If you have Windows 7, you have to install a small program first and then install the latest version. Create a Restore Point before you do it. And, if you have Windows 7, you can also create a system restore image which you should be doing anyway at regular intervals.

I am not sure how the software works but if it stored encryption keys on your old computer, you are probably out of luck.

I also encrypted files but forgot the created password, can I retrieve the files .jpegex? ACER said no. Are there other software programs available to unlock these files? I have an Aspire 6920
