i have an acer x221 monitor that was working fine until i moved into a new place.i very carefully boxed it up and just as carefully reinstalled it.problem is,
as soon as it boots up,it goes into sleepmode and the on button turns amber.
i've tried different computers but same result. help!

I would recommend to check the pins in the switch which connects the monitor to your video card. Also if this switch is deformed it is easily plugged in up-side-down, resulting in what you describe (had that prob). If you are missing pins, as far as I know, replacing the switch is very expensive and not worth it, but lets hope it's the other thing.

    What is your computer's configuration?

When it's in hibernation mood (Amber color) have you tried unplugging your Video cable (I'm not sure what you are using such as VGA or DVI) but if you unplug that and plug it back in that should possibly do it. I have an X233H from Acer and am having some troubles with it as well. Good Luck!:wave
