Please some one help!! I have a Acer Aspire One D2455E Netbook running Windows 7................. I recently upgraded the ram from 1g to 2g. Since then, my touchpad hasn't worked! I've done everything the internet has to offer. Uninstalled, reinstalled, updated drivers, rolled back drivers, made sure the keyboard tape was in place... I just don't know what else to do. When I uninstall and reboot it recognizes a ps/2 compatible mouse with an error code in device manager of This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)[/B] PLEASE HELP! :cry

Have you tried looking for a driver through windows update?

Also the model number.... Should it not be D255E?

Does it have a function key to enable/disable it?
    My laptop has FN+f7.

No, I only tried Synaptics because thats what the touchpad is, or so the computer sys.

Well im stumped then, if you have tried everything you say you have and this started occuring after you upgraded the ram, there is a possiblity you have partially damaged the device.

The only thing *I* can suggest is a reinstall of windows as a last resort.

You can wait and see if anyone else can shed some more light....

    Sorry!

    Void:

Is it connected to the motherboard? Could I have maybe knocked it loose? If it is indeed the device, how would a reinstall help? ad finally can I replace just the touchpad?? I am going to try the other two drivers on the acer website when I get home though.

Yes it is connected to the motherboard but as you only did a RAM upgrade which usually entails removing just a small cover its unlikely you knocked a connection loose. However is there is a potential you may have shocked the board with static if you were not properly grounded?

It maybe a problem driver or something corrupt in windows causing the issue and not allowing it to be correctly configured which a fresh install would correct.

You can replace the touch pad if the spares are available, this would be done after a reinstall really to rule out any corrupt files. but if its the motherboard ect it may not fix the issue.

You could strip the laptop down and check the connections for the touchpad but be warned this can involve a whole disasembly of the laptop and lots of compenets being removed... as such is usually best left to competent persons

EDIT: Just to claify i would

    1. Reinstall windows
    2. Check connections
    3. replace pad if connections were well seated
    4. hope its fixed lol

Well unfortunately this model netbook doesn't have that easy little latch that most acers do. It entails removing the keyboard, and the underside of the device, however, I was grounded by a wrist strap. So I guess I'm off to do a clean install. I guess I have to start from fresh dang it. Hope this works! thanks for your help! ;)
